Commissioner: In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the occupying power continues to forcibly mobilize young people

Putin's authorities in the temporarily occupied Crimea plan to use college graduates as "cannon fodder" in the war against Ukraine.

From April 1 to July 15, 2022 in the russian federation and the TOT Crimea was announced spring conscription into the russian army.

As it became known, at the "Sevastopol Shipbuilding College" at the "request" of the military commissar, the deadline for passing the final exams was postponed to the beginning of June in order to have time to recruit graduates to the ranks of the russian army.  Earlier, according to the schedule, the last day of exams was June 28, 2022.

The situation is similar in other educational institutions - Sevastopol Maritime College, Sevastopol Vocational Art College and Sevastopol Industrial and Technological College.  These educational institutions also change the date of the last exam.

Forced mobilization in the occupied territories is a violation of Article 51 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.  It strictly prohibits the occupying Power from forcing protected persons to serve in its armed or auxiliary forces.

I appeal to the UN Commission for  Investigation Human Rights Violations during russia's military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of war crimes and human rights violations in Ukraine.
