Commissioner: The enemy continues to use prohibited weapons against civilians

The enemy is covering residential buildings and civilian infrastructure with shelling from weapons prohibited by international humanitarian law.

In two days, the occupying forces struck several banned phosphorous shells in Avdiivka, Donetsk region.  On April 26, the coke plant was bombarded with phosphorus shells, and on April 27, the city center was hit, resulting in several fires.  The occupiers aimed at a high-rise building.  One injured person is known.

This morning an air strike was carried out on the Hirske Community of Luhansk region.  Civilian infrastructure was severely damaged and the power substation burned down.  One person died, the data is being clarified.

During the day in the Donetsk region, the enemy fired on 11 settlements, destroyed at least 35 civilian objects - houses, hospital, school, cinema, communal and railway infrastructure.  The rashists fired at aircraft, missiles, “Hail” multiple rocket launchers, tanks, and heavy artillery.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region in the Kryvyi Rih district, the rashists fired a missile at the elevator and destroyed it.  Also in the Kryvyi Rih district, two enemy cluster munitions arrived in the afternoon on April 26 at the gardens of local residents.  Fortunately, no one was injured.

The bridge across the Dniester estuary in the Odesa region was destroyed.  In the morning, the russians fired at him for the second time.

The use of such weapons of mass destruction against civilians is a crime against humanity and a violation of the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

I call on the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of war crimes and human rights violations in Ukraine.

I call on international partners to provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
