58 orphans remain in danger in the occupied Kherson region

At the beginning of 2022, there were 35 orphanages in the system of the Ministry of Health in Ukraine.  20 institutions have already been evacuated (yesterday the orphanage was evacuated from Zaporizhia).

At the same time, the orphanage in Kherson remains in the occupied territories.  According to operative information, there are 58 children in it.  The children have been in the basement for a long time, hiding from the shelling and bombing of the russian military.

The administration of the orphanage and the Service for Children's Affairs cannot guarantee the safe movement of children, as it is not possible to agree on a humanitarian corridor from the Kherson region.

The children and staff have been held hostage in the russian-occupied city of Kherson for some time.  They lack food, medicine and hygiene products.

Russian invaders do not allow the removal of children and prohibit the delivery of humanitarian aid to the city.

Russia's actions violate children's rights to life and security, guaranteed by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I call on the International Committee of the Red Cross to take all possible measures to open a safe humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of the orphanage from Kherson.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of Russia's violations of children's rights in Ukraine
