The state of health of Vyacheslav Zasypka, a citizen of Ukraine, who is being held illegally in the Yenakiyevo colony № 52 in the territory of the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, is extremely critical after suffering torture! This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmyla Denisova.

Vyacheslav worked as a taxi driver and was taken prisoner on March 9, 2018 in Makeyevka, where he took his friend.

Both were detained by representatives of the so-called "DPR State Security Committee". They accused the man of collaborating with Ukrainian security services, but later released the woman.

One year before his captivity, Vyacheslav suffered severe burns to his left body, which resulted in more than one operation. However, while in the infamous Isolation Prison, Ukrainians were tortured with electric shocks, including burns.

In August 2019, Vyacheslav was sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison for "aiding and abetting a terrorist attack."

According to the Commissioner, his state of health is critical after the tortures he suffered: contusion, broken teeth with pliers, burns. The man does not move well. Due to chronic venous insufficiency he has swollen legs, trophic ulcers, curvature of the foot.

According to the Ombudsman, Vyacheslav needs immediate medical care, which is not provided to him in prison, and the medicine given to him by his relatives does not reach his husband.

Vyacheslav was punished by solitary confinement for his mother’s participation in meetings with the Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights and the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine for Release from Captivity.

"All the above actions against Vyacheslav Zasypka are violations not only of Ukrainian law but also of international law, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions on the Rules of War, the Additional Protocols to the 1977 Geneva Conventions and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. human freedoms in 1950, "said Lyudmila Denisova.

The Commissioner appealed to the ICRC leadership in Ukraine to pay an urgent visit to Vyacheslav Zasypka, facilitate his immediate release, and asked the OSCE Coordinator in the Humanitarian Subgroup of the Tripartite Contact Group, Charlotte Relander, to intervene personally to raise the issue.

Given the critical state of health of Vyacheslav Zasypka, the Commissioner insists on his immediate release.
