Russian occupiers block the departure of Ukrainian citizens from the Kherson region

A multi-kilometer traffic jam formed at the exit from the Kherson region.

Thousands of cars with children, women and the elderly trying to get out of the hell of the russian occupation in the direction of Ukraine-controlled territory are not allowed by the occupying forces.

Cars stand for several days, and exhausted people suffer from lack of food, water and rest.

In addition, there is a constant danger of shelling by the occupiers.  The other day, racists opened fire on a convoy of cars trying to leave the city.  Volunteer Anton Kushnir, who was delivering humanitarian goods as a result of the nearby front line and constant fighting, was shot in the head.

The actions of the russian military are a gross violation of Article 49 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, as the occupying power must not detain persons in territory that is particularly dangerous in connection with hostilities.

The killing of civilians is a war crime and a crime against humanity under Articles 7 and 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during russia's military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of crimes and human rights violations in Ukraine.
