Commissioner: Russia wants to legalize abduction of Ukrainian children who do not have parents and cannot fully protect themselves

The president of the russian federation signed a decree on a simplified procedure for acquiring citizenship by orphans, children deprived of parental care, incapacitated persons who are citizens of Ukraine.

An application for citizenship on behalf of a child will be submitted by a guardian, trustee, head of the institution where the children are staying, or the head of the guardianship authority, ie the self-appointed head of the local authority.

The child's consent to be granted russian citizenship will be recorded only when the child has reached 14 years of age.

With this step, the russian authorities want to legalize the abduction of Ukrainian children who do not have parents and cannot fully protect themselves.

The biggest threat is that this will enable Russia to adopt our children quickly and without any obstacles.

The forcible transfer of children from one human group to another is genocide under Article 6 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during the russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of violations of the rights of Ukrainian children.
