Rashists torture Ukrainian priest

Vasyl Vyrozub, a citizen of Ukraine and rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Odessa, is being held illegally in pre trial detention center No. 2 in the Belgorod district of Stary Oskol (Russia).

The priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was placed in solitary confinement, where he was tortured and accused of "espionage."

Vasily was captured by the russian military along with other members of the humanitarian mission of the rescue ship "Sapphire".

In addition to Father Vasyl Vyrozub, there are about 150 other Ukrainian servicemen in the pre-trial detention center, who are also being tortured by representatives of the administration.

The above actions violate Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, approved by the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during the Russian Military Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission set up by the OSCE participating States in accordance with the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these violations of the rights of Ukrainian citizens.
