Commissioner: Occupiers use children in hostilities - this is a violation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

The special services of the russian federation used a smartphone game to extract photos and geolocations of military objects from children.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, an IT company controlled by the russian special services and registered in one of the European countries has launched an online game.

Thus, subversive activities are disguised as a regular quest, where cases with virtual prizes can be exchanged for electronic money.

In the Kirovohrad region, two teenagers were detained while photographing checkpoints, elevators and transport routes in the region.

Such actions by the occupiers violate the prohibition on the recruitment or use in hostilities of persons under the age of 18, as set out in Article 4 of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during the russian Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of violations of children's rights.
