The occupiers continue the school year for Ukrainian children until September 1

According to Mariupol Mayor's Adviser Petro Anryushchenko, in russian-occupied Mariupol, the self-proclaimed government has decided to deprive children of summer vacations and announced the continuation of the educational process until the fall.

During this period, they plan to teach children the history of russia, mathematics, russian language and literature, in order to quickly adapt children to russian educational standards.  The occupiers also plan to open 9 schools in Mariupol.

russia is trying to erase Ukrainian identity from children’s minds and impose their own visions of the world order.  By forcing children to attend schools whose buildings have been destroyed without creating safe conditions, the occupier endangers the lives and health of children.

This is a direct violation of Articles 29 and 38 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which stipulates that a child's education should be aimed at fostering respect for the child's parents, cultural identity, language and national values   of the child's country of origin,  also violation of the duty to protect children affected by armed conflict.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during the russian Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of russia's violations of children's rights in Ukraine.
