Commissioner: Ukrainian citizen Teimur Abdullayev, illegally convicted by the aggressor country, is again placed in a pre-trial detention center

Teimur Abdullayev, a citizen of Ukraine illegally convicted by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, was again placed in a remand prison, which has a negative impact on his health. This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmyla Denisova.

According to her, the administration of the PKU IC-2 UFSIN in the Republic of Bashkortostan once again sent a Crimean Tatar into solitary confinement in a basement with high humidity and unsanitary conditions, continuing the so-called "disciplinary punishment".

"Teymour has been in illegal detention in Russia since March 7, 2020. He spent almost all this time in the penal colony. He is released to the detachment of strict conditions of detention only for a short period of time. "While Teymur is in the pre-trial detention center, the riot police, who are brought to the colony, are searched and his belongings are handed over," said Lyudmila Denisova.

She added that Teimur's continued detention in a pre-trial detention center was a form of physical and psychological pressure equivalent to torture and in direct violation of Articles 2 and 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms - the Right to Life.

"I appeal to the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova to immediately ensure the restoration of Teymur Abdullayev's rights: to bring the conditions of detention in line with the Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, and to clarify the legality of detention," said Lyudmila Denisova.

The commissioner calls on the international community to respond to the violation of the rights of Teimur Abdullayev, who is being held illegally in a Russian colony, and to increase pressure on the occupying country to release all Kremlin prisoners.
