Commissioner: the aggressor violates the right of Ukrainian citizens to a safe life - journalist Vira Gyrych died as a result of the shelling

Radio Svoboda journalist and producer Vera Girich was killed when a russian missile hit a residential building in the center of Kyiv

According to preliminary data, 10 more people were injured as a result of enemy shelling in a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital.

I express my sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Vira Gyrych and wish the victims a speedy recovery.

The shelling of the occupier violated the right of Ukrainian citizens to a safe life, guaranteed by part one of Article 2 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

I appeal to the UN Commission for  Investigation Human Rights Violations during the Russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of Russ ian war crimes in Ukraine.
