Дмитро Лубінець провів онлайн-зустріч з Омбудсвумен Хорватії Теною Шимонович Айнвальтер

I held an online meeting with the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia Ms. Tena Šimonović Einwalter

I expressed my gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the people and government of Croatia to Ukrainians and Ukraine.

During the meeting, we discussed the situation with human rights violations in Ukraine as a result of Russian armed aggression. In particular, I told about the latest cynical incident of the Russian troops, who, in violation of the arrangements, including with the UN and ICRC, and the Geneva Conventions brutally attacked the facility for Ukrainian POWs in the village of Olenivka, killing more than 50 Ukrainian POWs with more than 130 wounded.

We agreed to unite and intensify efforts in the international arena in order to oppose encroachments on the lives and rights of our citizens. In this context, I proposed to hold a side-event in Zagreb at the end of October, on the joint initiative of the Ombudsmen of Ukraine and Croatia, within the framework of the parliamentary dimension of the Crimean Platform - the Crimean Platform of the NHRI.

I consider it appropriate to organize within it a panel for Ombudsmen with the involvement of colleagues from other states in an online format. The main topic of discussion should be Russia's violation of human rights in the context of aggression against Ukraine, including on the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea, and the response of the Ombudsmen to these challenges.

We agreed with Ms. Tena Šimonović Einwalter on the exchange of information between our institutions for the purpose of greater awareness of human rights in Ukraine and Croatia.
