The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights once again emphasized during a round table "Prevention of discrimination on the grounds of age while reforming the educational legislation" which was held on October 23, 2015 in the Ukrainian national news agency "Ukrinform".

Ms. Valeriya Lutkovska drew attention of participants of a round table to official statement of the Commissioner, made just after as one of heads of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine declared intention of the Ministry within reforming of system of the general secondary education to transfer on the contract of teachers, having begun with teachers of the older (pension) age who continue to work.

The Commissioner for Human Rights again expressed strong belief that a position of the Ministry that during reform the system will be actually created when the factor of age of the person will have significance while determining working conditions and, finally, release of the worker, testify to direct discrimination on the grounds of age. Such approach to reform unambiguously breaks both provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine, norms of the current legislation on labor, social protection and principles of prevention and counteraction of discrimination, and the international obligations of Ukraine.
