Regional offices of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights

Regional Offices of the Commissioner for Human Rights are established by the Commissioner according to the Law of Ukraine «On the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights» to ensure efficient activities of the Commissioner and the availability of our community liaison offices for citizens residing in remote areas.

Regional offices of the Commissioner operate in Lviv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, Chernivtsi, Kharkiv, Odesa and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

According to imposed tasks regional offices of the Commissioner monitor the observance of human and citizen’s rights and freedoms; submit their proposals on ensuring human rights and fundamental freedoms to the Commissioner; on behalf of the Commissioner explain the measures which should be taken by a person who has filed his or her petition to the Commissioner; ensure cooperation of the Commissioner with representatives of civil society organizations; ensure operation of community liaison offices; take measures to implement  provisions of the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment; forge relationship and cooperate with regional and local authorities; etc.

The jurisdiction of the regional offices of the Commissioner extends not only to the region, where the office is located, but also to the neighboring regions.
