The Ombudsman Liudmyla Denisova met with the commander of the JFO in Donetsk region

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova jointly with the Lithuanian delegation the Seimas Ombudsman of Lithuania Mr. Augustinas Normantas and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine Mr. Marius Janukonis met with the commander of the Joint Forces Operation Serhiy Nayev.

The commander of the JFO Serhiy Nayev informed the international delegation about the powers of the servicemen in the zone of the JFO, as well as about the work at the checkpoint. According to him, due to the increasing number of people crossing the border, it was decided to expand the number of personnel at all checkpoints.

In addition, two checkpoints - Maryinka and Stanytsia Luhanska were reconstructed. Serhiy Nayev said that this has helped to reduce the time of crossing the border line. The Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova emphasized the importance of the decision of the military to extend the working hours of the checkpoints when there is a large number of people.

In addition, the Ombudsman Liudmyla Denisova has agreed with the JFO commander that she will appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding the adoption of the procedure of crossing the demarcation line. She spoke about these problems with civilians at the checkpoint Maiorske today.

The Lithuanian Ombudsman Augustinas Normatas emphasized that the monitoring visit to the area of the JFO helped to better understand the situation in the field. And the Lithuanian Ambassador Marius Janukonis confirmed that Ukraine cares about its citizens. According to him, the humanitarian consequences of Russian aggression were immediately seen by two Ombudspersons and now it is important to bring it to the attention of international community.
