The European Commission positively appraised activity of the Commissioner for Human Rights regarding implementation of the Action Plan on liberalization of a visa regime

On December 18, 2015 the European Commission published the Report on implementation of the Action Plan by Ukraine on liberalization of a visa regime. As it is noted in the Report, the European Commission considers that Ukraine satisfied all conditions for introduction of a visa-free regime with the European Union.

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, within the conferred powers, in the course of implementation of the Action Plan on liberalization of a visa regime was responsible body for implementation of some points of the Action Plan.

In the Report of the European Commission, in particular, it is noted that the Ukrainian party successfully carried out tasks of implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On protection of personal data" and ensuring activity of independent monitoring body for control over compliance with the law on protection of personal data which the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights is.

Besides, activity of Office of Ombudsman in the sphere of prevention and counteraction of discrimination in Ukraine was separately appraised.

"The Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights as the main body dealing with issues of ensuring the rights and non-discrimination, successfully copes with the tasks assigned to it. In particular, the Strategy of activity in the sphere of prevention and counteraction of discrimination in Ukraine for 2014-2017 is successfully realized which was approved by the order No. 23/02-13 of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights of 15.11.2013, and the corresponding Action Plan on realization of the mentioned Strategy", – it is told in the report of the European Commission.

At the same time in the report it is indicated that fulfillment of above-mentioned blocks of tasks continues to be under control of the European Commission.
