As previously reported, the Representative of the Commissioner for children’s rights, non-discrimination and gender equality Ms Aksana Filipishyna during a monitoring visit to the places of compact residence of Roma minorities in Zakarpattia region has discovered a family residing in Mukacheve district, which raises 8 children. The births of all children were not registered due to the lack of the passport of their mother.

Five-year-old child was taken away from her mother by the police and placed to the Orphanage in Lviv.

The Commissioner requested the Service for Children’s Affairs in Mukacheve district to conduct a survey of the family’s living conditions. On its basis a report concluding that the return of the child to the family will be beneficial for the child was issued.

The child was returned to her mother, met her newborn brother and currently has the opportunity to feel love and care from her mother.
