Nearly 22 thousand elderly people and those who have disability are inhabitants of 96 houses boarding schools, boarding houses for elderly people, and also 332 stationary units of the territorial centers of system of social protection.

With assistance of the Commissioner for Human Rights the exhibition of artworks of children with special needs was opened

The Chairman of the All-Ukrainian organization of disabled people "Union of the organizations of disabled people of Ukraine" Ms. Vasyl Nazarenko applied to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Ms. Valeriya Lutkovska with a request to render assistance in the organization of the All-Ukrainian exhibition of art and crafts and decorative works with participation of children with special needs.

Conclusions on the Report of Mr. Gérard Stoudmann following results of his visit to Crimea have been sent to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Ms. Valeriya Lutkovska has submitted a letter to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland that contains conclusions following the results of discussion of the Report prepared by Ambassador Mr. Gérard Stoudmannafter his visit to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

It was declared by the Representative of the Commissioner for observance of the rights of the child, non-discrimination and gender equality during the presentation of the report following results of the monitoring "Protection against gender discrimination in decisions of the Ukrainian courts" which is carried out by the Kharkiv regional fund "Public Alternative" with assistance of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights within implementation of the project "Fair Justice".

Mechanisms of protection of the rights of persons who remained in custody in places of detention in Ukraine demand further improvement

Representatives of the UN Subcommittee on prevention of tortures and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment came to such conclusion during a working meeting with the staff of Department for realization of the national preventive mechanism of the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Human Rights which was held on May 26, 2016 in the Office of Ombudsman. Exchanging opinions, the international and domestic experts discussed conditions of custody of people in places of detention in Ukraine, and also a guarantee of their protection against tortures and ill treatment.
